Santa Needs Helpers!!!!!
On 16th November Southampton will be staging a Santa Fun Run In conjunction with the Christmas lights switch on. The venue is one of 36 throughout the UK and is part of a campaign to support the British heart foundation
The Santa fun Run is for adults and is open to anyone over 12 years old. All competitors receive a complete Santa Suit to keep in which they must participate; everyone must run dressed as Father Christmas. Some venues are anticipating over 1000 competitors, which will make a top attraction for the media. The run is open to ladies as well as men that is why it is a Santa Run not Father Christmas, Run. Ladies can be Santa too. The distance at each venue will be slightly different with the approx distance being 1.5km
Children aged 4 to 12 years old will be able to participate in Santas Helpers Run in which they will wear Elves hats and receive a Christmas Present at the end of their run. Children will, depending on their age run from 50 meters. Adults and older brothers and sisters will be able to jog along with the little ones. The adult and childrens races can be combined.
Not only will participants be having fun but they will also be supporting the British Heart Foundation as profits from the races go to help the BHF carry out their life saving and pioneering work.
The proposed routes will be in the city centre A distance of 1.5km approx for adults. Children will run a variation of the route; maps of course will be supplied
The requirements from the athletic clubs would be
a) Issue Santa Suits on race day, target participants 200
b) Organise the start/finish area
c) Provide Marshals where necessary on run route
d) Issue Christmas Present to all children who compete
The entire operation should be finished within two hours. In return for your support we would be happy to make a donation to the club funds. If you would like to add a link from our web page to your club you are more than welcome.
World Masters marketing will carry out all administration such as entries, all marketing of the event and all media publicity. I will also arrange to carry out a risk assessment and arrange public liability Insurance to the value of £5m. There will be no liability on any club members or volunteers. World Masters Marketing will provide tape.
